➡️ What happened in 2024

We launched our first writing contest!

This contest, on the theme of “Responsible Travel”, was aimed at children in the HomeExchange community and French-speaking classes.

Three challenges were set for the aspiring young writers:

🚂 "The train of the future"

🏡 "Let's share our homes, let's share our cultures"

🌎 "Around the world in 80 kg of CO2"

We co-organized it in collaboration with the French writing platform Plume.

👉 Why this project?

• To help create new ways of thinking about travel, encouraging younger generations to consider new ways of exploring the world.
• To spark family discussions about the values of responsible travel and inspire great ideas for future vacations.

👉 The results

• More than 500 children embarked on the adventure!
• A collection containing our 30 favorite stories has been published.
• 100,000 members were exposed to this initiative.

💡 Lessons

• A complex dual approach: the option of participating as a class or individually made the contest more complex to explain and manage. When organizing competitions, it is often preferable to keep things simple.
• Involving the content creators we work with, and bringing the stories to life through blog posts, enabled us to raise the profile of the initiative.

➡️ What we could do better

• Why not imagine the same mechanism... but for adults?
• As the contest was complex to set up, we only offered it to our French-speaking members.
